Why Are Candles So Romantic?

I sometimes wonder what is it about the soft flicker of a flame and the warm glow of candlelight that makes any moment feel just a little romantic. When I think of candles, I think of intimate dinners, luxurious bubble baths, and a cozy warm feeling.      But what is it about a candle that brings this connection?

There’s definitely something mesmerizing about watching a flame dance. The subtle movement of candlelight creates a feeling of warmth and mystery, making it the perfect companion for deep conversations, romantic dinners, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with someone special.  Turn the TV off, dim the living room lights, and let the candlelight cast that soft, warm glow that makes everything feel more intimate and cozy.   

When I first started making candles, way before Summer Candle Co came on the scene, I imagined I would be lighting a candle and creating that special soft glow of candlelight each evening.  But now owning a candle business, and having made many, many candles along the journey, with many different scents, these days I only light a candle if I’m testing i!  I was wondering if I had forgotten about the association of candles with romance? I think probably, yes!   In fact, if you ask my husband, I’m sure he would say that the only reason I am lighting a candle these days is to find that next, amazing best-selling new product, checking it every 30 minutes to see how it is burning 

It’s true that scent is closely tied to memory and emotion, which is why the right candle fragrance can make a romantic moment unforgettable. I was thinking about Valentine’s Day, and what would be romantic from our range.  These are the 3 that come to mind straight away, but of course, everyone has their own personal preference.
